Good/Bad Points

Good Points:

- nice, new rooms with the (usually) latest technic
- enough freetime activities (for example: Comenius, Theatre, Choir, Russian, Cooking,...)
- nice school yard

Bad Points:

- chewing gums on the benches
- rattling polylux

What would I change:

-not so much homework
                         
Earlier:

Good points:

- homework were always possible
- the children understand each other, so there was no dispute

Bad points:

- at school there were folding benches but still no chairs
- they have to learn Russian

MY (GRAND) MOTHER´S SCHOOL

The school of my grandmother
- my grandmother liked her school, she enjoyed learning and had many friends
- the school was in our hometown in Schwarzbach, so she hadn´t a long way to school
- her favourite subjects was needlework (stitch, sew and so on)
- she had to learn Russian
- they had always summer holidays from 1st July to 31st August and special holidays in autumn, the "Potato Holidays" (they had to pick out the potatoes on the field, for each basket they got 20 penny)
- she had a penfriend in the Soviet Union (Russia)
- they had too little classrooms, so there were 2 classes in the same classroom

The school of my mother
- my mum went to the Polytechnic High School til class 8, then she went to the gymnasium
- they had notes from 1-5
- there were pioneer afternoons in the school, where she learn much about the DDR, they hike, cook, ...
- in class 9 and 10 they had a job preparation in different firms

Our grandmother had most of the morning all so sometimes in the afternoon school. But the most important thing is that she also had school at saturday.

There were easter -, summer -, and autumn (potato -) holidays. The easter and the autumn holidays are one week and the summer holidays are four weeks.

Building and Equipment

The school is in two parts divided, also has the school a Kiko, where tests are written.
The subjects physics, biology, chemistry, geography and computer science have specially designed class rooms.
Our school has a cafeteria.

Homeworks and AGs (Freetime activities)

For the forms 5 and 6 , they have a teacher for the homework (optional)!
And we have very much AGs (for example Theatre, Choir, Russian, Football, Uni Hockey, Art,...)

The MEGZ was established in 1992 as Gymnasium Zwoenitz! In 1999 it was renamed in: Matthes-Enderlein-Gymnasium Zwoenitz.
